Newcomers to Our Dentistry for Children

When your young one visits their dentistry for children for the first time, it can be an intimidating idea. A young patient’s experience during their first visit to Kalamazoo Pediatric Dentistry is made to be enjoyable and relaxed. During the visit, we’ll start by obtaining important background information, like their medical history, and give you and your child time to get to know your doctor. An initial exam will be performed, and we’ll discuss the current state of your child’s dental health in detail. We’ll go over any recommended treatment and work with your child to help them develop a positive attitude towards dental health.

To gather an understanding of what to expect from your first visit to our practice, please read the information below. You’ll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, practice hours, payment policies, and more. You can also visit our staff page to see who will be assisting either Dr. Basler or Dr. van Hofwegen during your appointment. You can also save some time at your first visit by printing out and completing the patient forms in advance. Just be sure to bring them to your child’s appointment. We’re looking forward to meeting you!

What to Expect

Being well-prepared for your appointment will ensure that the doctor has all the needed information to provide the best possible care for your child. It also will help relieve any unnecessary anxiety your child may be feeling. Learn to spot symptoms by reviewing the content on our site. Also, take some time to review our staff page and familiarize yourself with the doctors. We look forward to your child’s first visit.

No Cavity Club

At Kalamazoo Pediatric Dentistry, we enjoy celebrating good dental habits! Each child who comes in for their regular exam and cleaning and has no cavities can enter their name in our No Cavity Club. At the end of every month, we draw a name and that club member is awarded a gift card!

Good dental habits last a lifetime and the No Cavity Club is a great way to encourage your child to brush and floss and win the best prize of all – a healthy smile!

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment with us, we expect you to contact our office at least 24 hours in advance. This allows us the opportunity to fill that appointment time as well as determining another appointment time for your child. Failure to notify us within 24 hours or if you fail to show may result in $50 being assessed to your account or  a complete dismissal from the practice.
