Babies can get their first tooth as early as four months. The lower central incisors are usually first to erupt, followed by the upper central incisors. Some babies might not see their first tooth until they’re almost a year old.
By the time a toddler turns 3, all of their primary (baby) teeth should be in. Children have 20 primary teeth but as they begin to loosen and fall out, they will be replaced with 20 permanent teeth. Most children lose their first tooth around the age of 6. They also get 6 yr molars behind their primary molars before the age of 5-8. Again, 4 more at the age of 12.
If you have any questions regarding the eruption of your children’s teeth, give us a call. We routinely scan our patients for eruption issues so that we can prevent any complications.
